Transport .- The freight sector will fall by 6% this year by the crisis.

The road freight transport will fall by 6% this year, reaching 17,000 million euros as a result of the economic crisis, according to forecasts by the DBK consultancy offered by the association of manufacturers and distributors Aecoc.

After several years of growth near 10%, decline in demand has made the transport of goods by road closed last year with a turnover of 18,000 million euros, up 6% from the previous year.

On the occasion of the current economic scenario, more than 300 freight professionals meet in Madrid on 25 and 26 March to discuss what are the prospects of the sector.

Also the European road transport will be subject of analysis in the IX National Transport Forum, which will bring together shippers, carriers, logistics operators and administrations to take the pulse of a professional sector accounts for more than 2% of GDP.

The Transport Forum will be inaugurated by the Director General of Road Transport of the Ministry of Development, Juan Miguel Sánchez, also includes in its agenda issues as the importance of innovation in the sector, the future of hydrogen in road transport or the benefits of combining road transport by sea.
